How to become our new travel writer/photographer

In short, travel inspiration. One of Globe Spots' main features is the collection of great places everyone probably wants to travel to. However, our goal is not to have as many places as possible, but rather have a limited variety of must-see places for every country, spiced up with a wide range of unusual sights not many have thought of. Each place submission consists of a short text and a picture.

Unlike to many other travel sites we don't believe in crowdsourcing (free user-generated content). Instead we get our content from a selected team of travellers and backpackers who independently seek out various corners of the globe they find interesting. To become member of the team, you should have a knack for photography (both taking and editing), be able to write in English and have a lively writing style.

Yes, we pay. Up to 15 USD per place submission. Of course, you keep the right to sell your pictures to others. Payment will be made through PayPal.

Hell yes. You will get a profile on our contributor page with your picture and a link to your website.

What we are looking for are honest, edgy, humoristic and down to earth written accounts with your own cool and edited pictures (through Photoshop or similar). Here are a few examples of what we want and why; Petra (iconic place from a different angle), Angkor Dinosaur (a bit of a surprise), Hill tribe villagers (honest description), Crap ride (do as the locals... not even a place), Tibetan sky burial (unusual traditions), Cargo cult (strange culture) and Mennonites (weird encounters).

Send us a few lines about your travel experiences, a link to your travel website/blog (if you have one), countries you want to submit from and an example of your writings (about 150 words) about a great/cool/wicked place along with an edited picture of your own (jpeg, "landscape" format, 600x400, max 100 KB). We will then get back to you as soon as possible. Your submission will of course not be used unless your are accepted as a contributor.
